DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT PROJECT

Objectives

The objective of this project is to contribute to the reduction of disaster risks in Sierra Leone, and to complement government’s efforts towards strengthening the resilience of vulnerable communities in Sierra Leone. This project is currently being implemented in Freetown, Lungi, Bo and Kenema.

Activates and Achievements

1. Provided Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) training along a Training-of-Trainer’s format to five selected communities (Kafuka community in Lungi, Tikonko community in Bo, Burma 1 community in Kenema and Hangha Community in Kenema)

2. Provided critical equipment and training to “First Responders” Supported five Community DRR

Encourage reforestation and other sustainable environmental projects in Lungi and Kenema

3. Support Community DRR groups to prioritize disaster risks and tailor execution plans on a recurring, scheduled basis
